Greetings fellow Gold Team members:
What a year we had! We weathered many challenges, from the pandemic to state shutdowns, with real estate considered non-essential, and so much more. Despite those challenges, determined leadership and swift, focused responses made our company stronger and our profession protected.
A formula I truly believe in comes to mind:
Event + Response = Outcome: E+R=O
I would like to thank the leadership team—Jeff, Boomer, Gary and Jackie, as well as our local branch and regional managers for leading us in a time as this. I would also like to thank Traci Hopkins, our director of corporate programs and events, for her tireless work. I know she is itching to get back to planning in-person events for all of us! It truly is a privilege and a blessing to work with such a remarkable group.
Moreover, I like to applaud each of you. This poem reminded me how all of you rise above difficulties.
‘It takes a lot of character,
to laugh at your fears,
and look braver than you feel,
but that’s what you’ll need
to know that your fears are not real…
to rise up out of your helplessness
and decide
that this moment
will not defeat you.’
Bravo to you all!
As we look forward to another great year, please mark your calendars for two must-attend events:
- Crab Feast, July 15, 2021, at the Chesapeake Beach Club
- ReCharge, Oct. 12-14, 2021, at the Hyatt Chesapeake. This is where we held our first-ever fall ReCharge event with tremendous success. Yes, we are going back!
Please watch for more information from Traci Hopkins on both events, as well as other pertinent information throughout the year.
For our Gold Team giving spirit, I would like to stay with the same charities we designated for 2020, since we were not able to support them in the way we originally envisioned. Both charities have personally touched some of our own Gold Team agents, including me.
Ronald McDonald House: The house provides a temporary residence for families of seriously ill or injured children receiving treatment at area hospitals. No one is ever turned away due to their inability to pay. The Ronald McDonald House believes that families are stronger when they are together while their children are going through complicated medical treatments. This way they can focus on the health of their child and not where they are going to stay. For those who have been volunteering there, your takeaways are greater than any giving. Hearing families’ stories of trials and triumphs are uplifting and leave no dry eyes. It makes you want to hug your kids tighter.
One story that has been featured on the Delaware Ronald McDonald House website features one of our own Gold Team agents, Brian Reed and his daughter, Devon. Brian is from our Avalon, NJ, office, and you can watch their story on YouTube, https://youtu.be/z3TOzCowWcE.
Good Neighbors Home Repair: Our Greenville, Del., office agent Teri Sensing serves on the board of Good Neighbors and she was the recipient of the New Castle County Board of Realtor’s Good Neighbor Award in 2018. Our Greenville office volunteered to put a new roof and replace windows on a low-income family’s home this year. The organization helps seniors, single moms, disabled veterans and others in financial need who can’t afford to fix their homes. Their mission is to restore hope for those who have few or no resources to repair their homes.
Luke 12:48 says, ‘To whom much is given, much will be required.’
We are truly blessed. Let’s give back to those in need.
If you are not yet on the Gold Team Facebook Group, please make sure to join. We would love for you to share all your photos of what’s happening in your regions regarding Gold Team events and service days. Don’t forget to pass referrals on our Facebook Group as well. We can make a difference!
I am truly honored and excited to serve as the 2021 Gold Team President. I look forward to working with the Gold Team Board, Traci, Boomer, Gary and Jackie to achieve excellence through a rewarding ReCharge event and the Crab Feast, which clearly demonstrate agents who work hard, play hard!
Sincerely,
Mia Burch, 2021 Gold Team President
