Videos, consumer research study now available
Long & Foster’s official 50th anniversary—May 22, 2018—is fast approaching, and as part of the company’s yearlong celebration, we have created a variety of marketing materials, from logos and ads to social media cover photos and flyers, to help you promote the event to your clients and prospects.
Here is an overview of two of the newest 50th anniversary promotional items we have available for you: our consumer research study and videos.
Consumer Research Study
In partnership with YouGov, an international market research and data analytics firm, Long & Foster polled over 2,200 U.S. adults, including almost 1,700 homeowners, to find out who is buying homes, who isn’t and why. We wanted to see how attitudes about homeownership have evolved since our founding, and the results break down the home-buying similarities and differences of the Millennials, Gen Xers, Baby Boomers and Silent Generation.
Here are a few of the top takeaways from the study.
Beyond Starter Homes
Millennials represent a huge chunk of the homebuying market, and they want to buy homes. In fact, 20 percent of Millennials have already bought two or more homes, according to our survey. Of the Millennials polled who haven’t already bought a home, only 13 percent said they don’t want to purchase a house.
Pride of Ownership
People of all generations cherish the freedom to do what they want with a home they own rather than requiring approval from a landlord. Millennials cited this reason above all others for why they purchased a home, while it ranked in the top five purchase reasons among the other generations. Even those who don’t yet own a home cited freedom from a landlord’s oversight as their top reason to eventually buy a house.
Role of the Agent
The way people search for homes, and the point at which a real estate agent is brought into the process, is changing with a new generation of savvy and informed homebuyers. Negotiation skills, market expertise and contract know-how now top the list of reasons to use an agent—a difference from the gatekeeper role agents played when Long & Foster first opened in 1968.
