Nathan Carnes Honored as NAR’s Washington, D.C., Realtor of the Year

Nathan Carnes, vice president and managing broker of the W.C. & A.N. Miller Realtors Chevy Chase office, was hon­ored as Realtor of the Year by the National Association of Realtors on Nov. 5. NAR’s Realtor of the Year award recognizes Realtors who have served both the real estate profes­sion and their local communities. Carnes, who joined W.C. & A.N. Miller in 2000, has been a licensed real estate broker in Washington, D.C., for more than 30 years, and he has served the area’s real estate community in numerous ways throughout his career.

John B. Gray Honored with Realtor Emeritus Status

John B. Gray, a veteran agent with Long & Foster’s Media, Pennsylvania, office, has earned the prestigious Real­tor Emeritus status from the National Association of Real­tors, the Pennsylvania Asso­ciation of Realtors and the Suburban West Realtor Association. The Realtor Emeritus Status recognizes that Gray has been a member of NAR for more than 40 years and is a valuable and lasting contributor to the real estate profession and to the community.

Kathleen Kellett-Ward Earns Valley Favorites Award

Kathleen Kellett-Ward of Long & Foster’s Staunton/Waynes­boro, Virginia, office received the 2016 Valley Favorites Award for the favorite real estate agent category from the News Virginian. This is the fourth consecutive year she has been chosen for the honor. Kellett has been a professional in the real estate industry for the past 11 years and has been involved in the industry for the past 14 years.

Debbie Cobb Named President of the Sussex County Women’s Council of Realtors

Debbie Cobb, a sales agent with Long & Foster’s Beth­any office in Bethany Beach, Delaware, has been chosen to serve as president of the Sussex County Women’s Council of Realtors for 2017. In December, Cobb attended the National Association of Realtors’ annual conference in Orlando, Florida, where she was installed in her new role by the Women’s Council of Realtors network. Cobb has been a professional in the real estate industry for the past 12 years.

Rick Kaiser Earns 2016 Rookie of the Year Award

Rick Kaiser, a sales agent with Long & Foster’s Lake Gaston, Virginia, office, has received the 2016 Rookie of the Year award from the Roanoke Valley Lake Gaston Association of Realtors. Kaiser joined Long & Foster in 2015 after relocating to Virginia from the Chicago area.

Joseph Orazi Wins New Jersey Realtors Good Neighbor Award

Joseph Orazi, a broker asso­ciate with Long & Foster’s Ocean City, New Jersey, office, has received the Good Neigh­bor Award from New Jersey Realtors. This award is given to a Realtor for dedication to their community. Orazi was selected as the first place winner for his involvement as the founder of the Toast Pink Organization, which assists cancer patients in need and their families in the local community. The Toast Pink Organization received a $2,500 donation in Orazi’s honor.

Nancy Steinke Appointed to SVAR Board of Directors

Nancy Steinke, manager of Long & Foster’s Tri-Cities South­park office, has been appointed by the Southside Virginia Asso­ciation of Realtors to serve on its board of directors. The board is responsible for pro­viding a voice for real estate in Southside Virginia, promoting professionalism, providing educational opportunities and advo­cating on behalf of its members. Steinke will serve on the board for three years. A Realtor since 2009, Steinke has been affiliated with Long & Foster’s Tri-Cities Southpark office since 2014.

Rick Deckert Releases Book on Real Estate Agent Safety

Long & Foster’s Rick Deck­ert recently published his newest book, Prepare Then Act: A Primer on Safety & Self Defense for Agents & Their Families. Deckert combines his background in military, investi­gations, martial arts and fire­arms proficiency with his knowledge of what Realtors face on the job to provide preparation and safety seminars for real estate agents, as well as coed groups, law firms, retail supervi­sors and homeowners associations. Since 2013, he has trained more than 2,000 individuals.

Nicole Canole Appointed to NVAR Leadership Institute

Nicole Canole of Long & Fos­ter’s Alexandria/Kingstowne Centre Sales office in Alex­andria, Virginia, has been appointed to the Northern Virginia Association of Realtors’ Leadership Institute. The NVAR Leadership Institute prepares interested members of the association for vol­unteer leadership roles with Realtor associations. The year-long program educates participants on the skills and knowledge they will need to take on leadership roles within a Realtor association.

Liz Kapp Appointed to SCAR Peninsula Commercial Alliance Board of Directors

Liz Kapp of Long & Foster’s Bethany Beach, Delaware, office has been appointed by the Peninsula Commercial Alliance to serve on its board of directors. Kapp will serve on the committee for two years. A Realtor since 2000, Kapp has been affiliated with Long & Foster’s Bethany office since 2015. She and her family relocated to the area from Atlanta, Georgia. Kapp was a successful agent in Atlanta and is now licensed in Delaware, Maryland and Georgia.
